Ultrasonic cleaning works by placing an ultrasonic brush within your dog’s mouth, holding the brush still on each tooth one by one moving around all teeth, the brush provides a gentle silent vibration which creates microbubbles which help to breakdown and dislodge thick stubborn plaque build-up on the surface of the teeth. After which the plaque can be chipped away gently to leave a clean polished look to your dog’s teeth.
Appointments sessions are 30 minutes in duration, this includes a 10 minute consultation to assess the dogs temperament, teeth and tolerance to the procedure, followed by 20 minutes of teeth cleaning. During this time as much cleaning will take place as possible, however for severe cases of plaque build up a couple of sessions maybe required.
It is recommended to have your dogs teeth cleaned every 3 to 4 months, this helps to keep on top of any plaque build-up and helps to maintain ongoing healthy oral hygiene.
In the event your dog has any loose teeth or inflamed gums which would cause discomfort to your dog, these teeth can still receive the treatment through the ultrasonic brush to help soften down the plaque however they will be unable to be chipped free of the plaque as this would cause discomfort to your dog. Please note veterinary treatment may be required if your dog has loose teeth or inflamed gums for them to assess their dental hygiene as a medical professional.
